Sometimes when life seems gentle and blessings flood my way,
I turn my gaze away from You and soon forget to pray.
But when the sky grows darker and courage turns to fear,
My anxious voice cries upward with words you long to hear.

Lord, I need You when the sea of life is calm.
O Lord, I need You when the wind is blowing strong.
Whether trials come or cease, keep me always on my knees.
Lord, I need You. Lord I need You.

Lord, help me to remember I’m weak but You are strong.
I cannot sing apart from You, for Lord You are my song.
Although I’m prone to wander and boast in all I do;
Lord keep my eyes turned upward so I depend on You.

Lord, I need You when the sea of life is calm.
O Lord, I need You when the wind is blowing strong.
Whether trials come or cease, keep me always on my knees.
Lord, I need You. Lord I need You.

I heard birds chirping this morning just before I woke up. Isn’t it wonderful??? Anyways, we sang this in chapel today, and it really is a reminder to rely on nothing else but Christ.
“Whether trials come or cease, keep me always on my knees”…how true is that???

Recalling the sermon today…
We did not determine where we are born. God did.
We have no control over whether we wake up tomorrow morning or not. God does.
We have no ability to sustain our lives. God provides.
So it ought to lead us to total dependance and reliance on our all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God.

“Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.” Jer 9:23-24
