So I’ve finally gotten my internet up and running in BJU.

24th Aug – It has been a long way from home…25hrs away…but we arrived safely at GSP on 25th Aug. Ptr Phoa and Mrs Phoa picked us up. Along the way, Max (from Changchun) joined in as well. He is from Morning Side Baptist Church, which serves a chinese community down here at Greenville and was recently ordained as a pastor. He’s in his final year now, doing Masters in Divinity. We were brought to “House of Chan” to do a take out. hahaha…i ordered boneless chicken rice…but guess wat?? it was just fried chicken fillet…but its alright. At least we tried πŸ™‚

We were then put up at a hse just 2miles away from school before the official check in (pics would come soon…hopefully…courtesy of Joel (: ). It’s pretty spacious. Loads of food were prepared for us beforehand and we are really thankful for the care and concern of Ptr Phoa and Mrs Phoa.

25th Aug – The following morning, we managed to set up our bank account in Greenville (debit card included) and then we went to Haywood Mall to get my MAC!!! my very first laptop at the grand ‘ol age of 25 πŸ™‚ It was a preeeety good deal I must say. It came up to USD1542.55. It included a printer (which I would be claiming a USD100 rebate with) and also a USD100 back to school voucher, which can be used to purchase online Apps from the Apple store. :):)

We then headed to this place called “Little Ceaser’s”. A large pizza cost USD5!!! amazingly cheap, which was shared by Ptr Phoa, Mrs Phoa, Joel and myself.

We then headed down to WALMART to shop for bedsheets, toiletries and basic necessities. A guy actually walked up to us while we were waiting to be picked up by Ptr Phoa. He asked if we were BJU students and offered us a ride back to school, assuming that this 2 asian guys looked lost and with 2 trolley load of stuff. We were pretty surprised by his gesture. (It also kinda made us realise later on that people ard the community do see the difference between students from the secular colleges and students from BJU. And it was really impt for us to have a good testimony when we are out and about.)

26th Aug – We finally made it to school. We unloaded our stuff at our individual halls. I was supposed to stay at one of the normal halls usually meant for undergrads (Brokenshire Hall) but halfway through shifting, I was informed by Max that I could switch over to the matured hall (housing mostly grad students and were meant for students aged 25yrs and older…im old alrdy πŸ™ . hahaha…just kidding).

I’m currently having the whole room to myself. Feels kinda lonely but at least it gives me more freedom as to what i can do πŸ™‚

Joel and I headed to their main auditorium at ard 10am to do our check-in. It was pretty overwhelming as all around us were angmohs, and we seemed like only one of a handful of asians on campus. even Joel started speaking in chinese…hahaha…

We did, however, managed to meet another guy, Samuel Lin, while on our way to the dining common, which is a huge common dining area where all 3 meals are served. I managed to see Alex Smith as well, whom I got to know while they were in Singapore for the MTT program.

and yeaaaa….that’s been the past 3 days for us down at Greenville. I still have that surreal feeling and a little uneasiness at the moment, but hopefully it’ll die down once everything gets into full swing next week! πŸ™‚

I really do appreciate all your prayers and please continue to pray for both of us as we head into the start of BJU life. Quite a number of things that we still need to get used to, esp certain restrictions. But it really is meant for us to grow closer to the Lord, right?

So yeapppp….I hope I can continue this updating as frequent as time allows me, and it also serves as a reminder as to why I’m here, how I got here, and what I’m supposed to be doing while I’m here.

and so…tmr would be another day of grace and mercy…good nites :):)
