“Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications…” ~ Psa 143:1

Its the Day of Prayer!!! I didn’t really know what to expect actually…but at the end of it all…I have so many things to be thankful for…so many things that I’ve learnt…so many things that I got reminded of…

For a start…its the first time i sat through a chapel session where we sang so many hymns…and i LOVED it…congregational singing is the best possible avenue (for me at least) to praise the Lord…and I cannot tell you how much i enjoyed singing hymn after hymn after hymn…i think we sang 8-10 hymns at least…WONDERFUL!!! 😀

I learnt a few new hymns…these 2 in particular caught my attention:

1) Thy way, not mine, O Lord – I love the lyrics (click)…

2) Complete in Thee (click) – I love love love love love this song…so much so that I bought it on iTunes…hahaha…since I’ve got some credits from the purchase of my macbook…

And then we had a sermon by Dr Layton Talbert…he preached on the theme passage, Psalms 143…how we can learn from David when he went before God to plead with Him…the fact that God does what He does…not because of our works or merits…but purely on the fact that He is faithful and righteous (v1)…how David remembered the grace and mercy of God in his life (v5)…and how David yearned for God…not just for His grace /mercy / gifts…but the Source of every good thing…our God Almighty (v6)…how comforting for Christians to have the privilege to come straight to God’s throne…and to know more of Him…how comforting to know that we have our ever present Strength and Help…

After the service, we got into groups to pray over specific prayer requests…we first split according to our majors and had a prayer meeting with the students from our same course…and subsequently split into the upcoming events on campus which we want to pray for…I went to the one on “Mission Emphasis Week”…if the number of people there is anything to go by…I’ll say I’m really encouraged by the amount of students concerned about outreach and missions…

After lunch, we had another service where a few students came up to share their testimonies…which were all really encouraging…and showed the power of God…the providence of God…the sovereignty of God…the guidance of God…

At the end of it all…I’m really thankful for:

1) being saved…to be able to come boldly before the throne of God…to have all my sins cleansed by the blood of Christ…to be declared righteous before the Just God…to have the assurance of eternal life…to have the joy that nothing else on earth can provide…to know that I have a Comforter and Guide in times of need…that I have a Rock and Shelter in times of trouble…that I have a Friend in times of joy…

2) the opportunity to be here at BJU…to be surrounded by many God-loving people…to edify one another…to be encouraged by one another…to learn more about our Creator…

I’m reminded of:

God’s faithfulness…power to save…sovereignty…providence…guidance…

If you guys have the time…take a listen to the testimonies (click)…when God place us in such trying situations…when we have physical conditions that we have to face…when we have unsaved family or friends that we want to reach out to…who do we go to?? God, of course! Bring everything to God in prayer! He has proven His faithfulness over and over and over again…from the time of the Israelites…to this age…He has never changed…and He will never change (James 1:17)…all we gotta do is go to Him…He will hear our prayers…nothing is too hard for Him (Jeremiah 32:17)…and nothing happens without Him allowing it to happen…and everything happens for a reason and ultimately accomplishes His will (Romans 8:28)…

No amount of words can describe how I’m feeling…but I hope you guys are able to feel that joy and can share that with me… 🙂 and so I say good night… 😀
