Top of that list…the weather is turning really cold…i mean cool…this few days…i’m guessing around 20-odd degree Celcius? and with the wind blowing…it feels like 20?or lower? hahaha…maybe its just my low cold tolerance…but yea…its reaaaaallllyyyyyyy cold….hopefully the thermal wear I bought online would do me some good…
School
As for school…its been really busy…because readings would normally take up a few hours…and then there’s the assignments…but still…God is good…I have been doing alright for the past few mini quizzes and tests…i guess that’s school…i’m enjoying studying right now…maybe cause I’m still able to handle them…and I’ve learnt most of it in the past…hopefully i’ll still be able to enjoy it when new and harder stuff piles up…pray for Joel too…he has a lot of readings and assignments to complete in addition to those quizzes and tests…so keep him in your prayers 🙂
*seeeeeee….doing maths…so hardworking…*

that is a coffee place called Cuppa Jones…its just outside the seminary…
ok…this was meant to be a shot of the sunset…but the window was lined with this mesh like thing…so the shot ended up like that…the sunset was really beautiful though…

Church
Anyways…we had a special service this morning at MorningSide Baptist Church…it was sort of a outreach program to the local chinese community around greenville…and we took the opportunity of the mooncake festival to invite them to the service today…thank the Lord…there was approx 70 that came…although there were some minor hiccups with the food catering (pls pray for max, the co-ordinator and pastor for the chinese service, that he would have wisdom to deal with this situation)…I still thank the Lord that the opportunity was given to minister and spread the gospel through the service…the sermon dealt with man’s sin and the separation from God…and how we can have the peace brought about through the restoration of our relationship with God, through His Son Jesus Christ…and I believe the seed of the gospel was sowed…and i quote:
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” ~ Isa 55:10 – 11
Encouragement for Christians to go out and preach the gospel…cause that is our part…to sow the seeds…and God would accomplish whatever He desires in His sovereign will…that’s something that I’m learning too…pray that I’ll have the opportunity and courage and wisdom to share…especially to the few chinese students that came today…the 2 that I had a brief conversation with are James and Wei Xing…James grew up in US and seems to be a Christian…while Wei Xing is a freshman at Furman Uni…
Chapel (encouragement)
sorry…it’s a little lengthy…i’m ending soon…i thought i might as well share a little from one of the sermons this past week…the speaker is Dr Bob Wood…a sharing on Joshua 5:13 – 6:21…what God instructed Joshua to do to conquer Jericho and how he and the Israelites responded…I’ll share the outline of his message and what i’ve learnt…and hopefully you’ll take the time to listen to the sermon (its only like 35mins)…you never know what you will get out of the message… 🙂 so here’s the outline:
http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=91311146400 (you can copy this link and take a listen)
1) Pre-requisites of Faith
2) Patience of Faith
3) Passion of Faith
4) Providence / Practice of Faith
5) Proclamation of Faith
One of the things he shared that really caught my attention was the passion of faith…in Josh 6:12, 15…it records that both Joshua and the Israelites “rose early in the morning”…why? because God has promised the taking of Jericho to them…and they were looking forward to the realisation of God’s promise…according to scholars…there are approx 6000 promises in the Bible…isn’t that amazing? 🙂 As a Christian, what are you anticipating from God each day? We could live our lives with greater anticipation each day if we knew what God has promised to His children…and the only way we can know His promises…guess what?? is by reading the Bible faithfully…immersing ourselves in His Word…encouraged by this God who is our strength and help…who is a true and living God…the God that knows us even better than we know ourselves…the impartial and Holy Judge that has to condemn all sinners to eternal damnation, else He would not be what He claims He is…but yet the loving and merciful God who, despite man’s sin and failures, has already provided us a way, the ONLY way, to restore the broken relationship that He has with his creatures…by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place…to pay the penalty of sin, which is eternal death, on the cross at Calvary…
My prayer for fellow Christians, seek God with all our hearts…and live each day with anticipation…for He is FAITHFUL…
“This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.” ~ Lamentations 3:21-23
My prayer for non-Christian friends, come to know Christ, if you happen to be reading this blog, it isn’t by chance / luck, God has a purpose, i urge you to find out more, to think about what are you living for? what’s the purpose in life? money fame and pleasure? or is there something deep down that you have yet to be satisfied by? there is no sin too big that God can’t forgive…
“Seek the LORD while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the LORD,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.” ~ Isaiah 55:6-7
With much love and thanksgiving,
